Daniel Polevoy on Sweet station

Partly funny, partly scary collages form young Ukranian photographer Daniel Polevoy could be joke as well as warning.

Avenue of Beloved by Grant Yoshino

I ve found this series on Ben Trovato blog and I really like the punk-glam style of it mixed with bright colors and decadent lighting. I can feel the anarchy of Terry Richardson in it.

Totems by Alain Delorme

One of my favourite art blogs Sweet station published splendid series Totems from Alain Delorme. This photographs look a bit funny for a first sight but then you realise that there is a huge social issue behind it. I really like how Alain took serious theme with a light mind but still left the serious part untouched.

Civil War Faces from Library of Congress

"These fascinating photographs represent the impact of the war, which involved many young enlisted men and the deaths of more than 600,000 soldiers. The photos feature details that enhance their interest, including horses, drums, muskets, rifles, revolvers, hats and caps, canteens, and a guitar. Among the rarest images are African Americans in uniform, sailors, a Lincoln campaign button, and portraits with families, women, and girls and boys. " -Flickr-

Small Concrete Boxes: Insides China´s zoos

Very touching series from photographer M. Scott Brauer about life of captured animals in China´s zoos. Subtle and very emotive images remain us how far we went from our roots and connections with nature and also how cruel we are.

Half Awake by Erin Tyner

Using small train figures and different household or nature object Erin Tyner create minimalistic dioramas that capture an interesting atmosphere. Figures used instead of real people help us to focus more on the emotional part of the series and I found it very inspiring.

The Ruins of Detroit by Y.Marchand and R. Meffre

I´ve already post an article about abandoned houses from Detroit by Kevin Bauman. But I think that would be interesting to see another series that works with the same topic but with a different point of view.

Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre photographed Detroit for 5 years and recently published book "The Ruins of Detroit". They also have very interesting series about abandoned theatres in U.S.

Check their Detroit series at: http://marchandmeffre.com/detroit/index.html
Also check  the older post about Detroit from Kevin Bauman: http://cocoshoots.blogspot.com/2010/11/100-abandoned-houses-by-kevin-bauman.html
